About Uncle Dave

Uncle Dave’s housing started as a dream of David Wohlman in the fall of 2009. As a licensed Drug and Alcohol counsellor, he saw a need for low-cost transitional housing in the greater Los Angeles area. Upon taking a leave of absence from working at Tarzana Treatment Center he obtained donations to open the doors of his first house to help others. This house was opened in January 2010 and is located in South Los Angeles. It has stood as an example of what low-cost transitional living should look like for over three years providing beds for up to forty clients. A second location was opened in December 2010 as a co-ed facility in Pasadena with beds for up to twenty-five men and women. Uncle Dave’s Housing became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in September 2011 and is now seeking to expand its operations to give more housing to the homeless population.
